A remarkable hero and amazing man, William Reid earned the Victoria Cross for a mission in November 1943 during his mission to Dusseldorf. With his crew wounded, himself suffering several wounds after sustaining repeated night fight attacks, Bill Reid still managed to fly his Avro Lancaster to the target and back, saving his aircraft and his crew.
Bill Reid was one of the greatest gentlemen Colin ever interviewed, and was gracious enough to submit to interviews when Colin was living in Glasgow, as Bill lived at St. Andrews just up the road. Bill Reid was one of a kind.
